Update aux Etats-Unis?!

So, I'm sitting here in Cody, Wyoming -- basically in the middle of no where, and upon the request of my mother -- and also of some of my own reflection, I decided to write one last entry! Seeing as I never really finished up my year in blog form.

It's pretty weird to think that I've been back in America for almost 2 months already -- it seems like I just left France yesterday, but at the same time, it feels like it's been forever. Instead of riding the metro from place to place, I am walking or hiking or biking -- which has all been great, just very different! I knew I was in love with Paris when I left, but I guess I was a little apprehensive about whether that love would continue or not -- and I think it's safe to say that it has. I think about my time there literally every day -- and fondly look back on all of the fun adventures I had in Europe.

Perhaps Paris is still on my mind because I'm in the throws of trying to start researching for my senior (!!!) thesis this coming year -- which I intend to write on Baron Haussman's transformation of Paris around the end of the 19th century/early 20th century. I just find that time period so fascinating, and so much changed about the city in such a short time period. So my sheepwagon (where I live here) is now cluttered with books about Paris and that time period, which just makes me smile! I'm also in the process of trying to arrange a trip back this coming fall so that I can do research. Unfortunately, life seems to be getting in the way! So hopefully I'll be able to work something out.

But life here couldn't really be more different than life in Paris. Again, I sleep in a sheepwagon where I wake up to chirping birds and mooing cows as opposed to my room in Paris where I could see the Eiffel Tower from the kitchen window. Not that it's a bad change, it's just different! My days here are spent cleaning cabins, serving meals to the guests, and then hiking or running in my free time to stay in shape! Again -- it's a wonderful place here, but it's just about a complete 180 from Paris.

I miss the city very very much -- and am already looking forward to (hopefully) moving back some time in the near future after I graduate. Finding a job might be the tricky part...

Anyways -- hope this gives a little conclusion to my 9 months of European adventures. And to keep up my habit -- here are some pictures to show where I am NOW:

Au revoir!
